AP 연합뉴스 지난 7월 사망한 ‘초강경 매파’ 린지 그레이엄 전 미국 공화당 상원의원을 잇는 당내 경선에서 그의 여동생인 달린 그레이엄(62)이 승리했다. 달린은 도널드 트럼프 대통령의 강력한 지지 속에 승리했지만 자질 논란을 겪으며 본선 경쟁력에 의문이 제기됐다. 25일(현지시각) 치러진 미국 공화당 사우스캐롤라이나 연방 상원의원 후보 경선에서 달린이 52%를 득표해, 48%를 얻은 랠프 노먼을 꺽었다고 에이피(AP) 통신 등이 보도했다. 달린은 오빠 린지 그레이엄이 사망한 뒤 그의 상원의원직을 승계하기 위해 이번 경선에 나섰다. 달린은 이날 경선 승리 연설에서 “사우스캐롤라이나는 진정한 트럼프의 영토”라며 자신의 승리에 트럼프 대통령의 지원이 결정적이었다고 말했다. 트럼프 대통령은 의회에서 자신을 가장 지지해준 린지 그레이엄이 숨지자, 여동생 달린을 임시 상원의원으로 지명하도록 사우스캐롤라이나 주지사에게 지시했다. 경선에서는 현장 유세에 참가하는 등 달린을 적극 지지했다. 사우스캐롤라이나를 포함해 대부분의 미국 주는 상원의원 부재시 주지사가 임시 후임자를 지명한다. 이번 경선은 공화당에서 트럼프 대통령의 영향력을 검증하는 시험대로 간주됐다. 트럼프 대통령은 올해 초 켄터키주의 토머스 매시 하원의원과 루이지애나주의 빌 캐시디 상원의원 등 자신과 대립하던 공화당 의원들의 경선 패배를 성공적으로 이끌어냈지만, 이후 그가 지지한 후보들은 여러 주지사 및 하원의원 선거에서 패배했다. 달린은 경선 과정에서 자질 논란을 겪었다. 그는 경선 토론회에서 대만과 남중국해가 미국의 안보 이슈인지 묻는 질문에 “국가 안보는 내 전공 분야나 전문 영역이 아니지만, 군은 지지한다”고 말했다. 이런 자질 논란으로 공화당의 일부 전략가들이 그의 패배를 예측했으나, 결국 접전 끝에 승리했다. 트럼프 대통령 쪽 슈퍼팩(정치활동위원회)은 선거 막판 위기감을 느껴, 달린에 대한 지지를 호소하는 전화와 문자 메시지에 80만달러 이상 지출했다고 밝혔다. 이는 트럼프 쪽 슈퍼팩이 수개월 만에 처음으로 선거에 자금을 집행한 사례라고 월스트리트저널은 전했다. 달린을 지원하는 외곽 단체들도 약 660만달러를 지출했다. 반면, 노먼을 지원하는 외곽 단체들의 지출은 최근 연방선거위원회 신고 기준 100만달러 미만이었다. 슈퍼팩은 미국 선거에서 특정 후보나 정당을 지원하기 위해 자금을 모으고 집행하는 민간 외곽 조직이다. 달린은 오는 11월 중간선거에서 소아과 의사이자 총기 규제 옹호자인 민주당의 애니 앤드루스 후보와 맞붙는다. 1998년 이후 사우스캐롤라이나에서 상원의원을 배출하지 못하고 있는 민주당은 이번 중간선거가 의원직을 탈환할 수 있는 기회로 보고 있다.。    A Bengaluru-based lawyer has lodged a complaint at the High Grounds Police Station against Ranveer Singh. He has claiming that his imitation of the Daiva sequence from Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 has offended religious sentiments.          Prashanth Metal, the advocate, has lodged the complaint for recreating Rishab Shetty’s Ullalthi Daiva performance. This happened while he addressed his fans at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa on November 28, 2025. According to the complaint, while commending Kantara Chapter 1 and its lead actor-director Rishab Shetty, Ranveer Singh reportedly referred to the Daiva as a "demon" and a "female ghost," which the advocate alleges was disrespectful and hurtful to religious sentiments.The legal complaint has been filed under Bharat Nyaya Sanhita's (BNS) sections 299, 302 and 196. Moreover, the complaint states that Ranveer's alleged "illegal and offensive actions" have hurt the sentiments of "millions of Hindus, particularly the Tulu-speaking community of Karnataka." In fact, the complaint also states that the actor was disrespectful towards Ullalthi Daiva while addressing the crowd at the event.Ranveer Singh had previously issued a public statement on the matter. He had stated, "My intention was to highlight Rishab's incredible performance in the film. Actor to actor, I know how much it takes to perform that particular scene the way he did, for which he has my utmost admiration. I have always deeply respected every culture, tradition, and belief in our country. If I've hurt anyone's sentiments, I sincerely apologise."          On the professional front, he is currently gearing up to release Aditya Dhar directed Dhurandhar. Alongside Ranveer, the movie also stars R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna and Sanjay Dutt.
